Trucking competition I have been in.
I placed approximately 4th out of 50 total drivers in attendance. They don't give out awards for anything lower than 3rd, but I sure had a lot of fun.
The competition consisted of a 40 question test. There were 4 sections of 10 questions each. Each of the 4 areas covered The Trucking Industry, Safety Regulations, Fire Safety and First Aid.
Then we had to do a pre-trip inspection on a truck and trailer within an 8 minute time frame. We had to find all the problems with the vehicle in the alloted time.
The last thing we did was the driving portion of the competition. Here you can see the pictures taken by my husband, Keoni.
The Washington State Truck Driving Championship is where drivers show off their abilities and knowledge in the trucking industry.
The competition has a 40 question test that covers the Trucking Industry, Safety and Security, First Aid and Fire Safety.
Then there is an oral interview that tests your knowledge about the Highway Watch program, how to be fuel efficient and what Truck Safety means to you.
After that, all of us drivers are then outdoors to perform our abilities in a 6 to 10 minute pre-trip inspection. We are to find defects on the equipment that we inspect. Some of these are real, others are simulated (put there temporarily to act as a real defect).
Then finally we do the driving course that consists of six problems that are fairly difficult to articulate, but shows the drivers abilitities that we encounter everyday.
